Find the lost. Hunt the hidden.

Early October, the Brooks Range. As the season closes on a remote Alaskan gold mine, a handful of the men who work it take the richest haul the ground has ever given up. They pick their moment well. The camp has emptied out, the workers sent home early by an old man's kindness, a storm rolling in to bury every track.

They make one mistake. They do it in front of the quiet one.

Niko Peña came back to this country to disappear. An equipment operator on a mountain that swallowed his father years ago, he keeps to his cabin, his river, and a half-tame raven, and the men he works beside have no idea what he was before he came home. They have three days of hard country between them and the coast. Everything they stole is slowing them down. And the man behind them was trained, across a life he never talks about, to find what does not want to be found.
